200km kitesurfing alone in high seas
10% engineer, 10% entrepreneur, 80% adventure-addict
If you don't find me in the ocean, look for me in the mountains.
I was born in Barcelona and raised in the world.
After graduating as an engineer I set off to South America and became an entrepreneur, before heading to San Francisco.
After becoming the first woman to kitesurf 1000km alone along the coast of Brazil, I founded GilrlsDreamBig to inspire and empower young girls to pursue their craziest challenges.
I grew up with books, ads and movies that featured only men in the positions I craved. It took me some time to figure out I did not need to be a boy to reach my goals, it just took much more effort, determination and courage.
Today, incredible women are proving that a new world where gender does not handicap your ambitions is possible. After setting a women's world record in 2017, I realized the importance of creating our own goals, regardless if men had already achieved it.
I believe that having a women as the "first person" will put more women as role models for future generations of boys & girls alike.
Let's give girls a license to dream big.
Mallorca and Barcelona are 200km apart on a straight line. Boats usually cover this distance in 10h.
Nika strives to become the first person ever to fight the unpredictable winds of the Mediterranean and cover this distance with only a kite and a surfboard...solo.
What makes EpiKite challenging?
- Irregular weather: unfortunately, no trade winds here.
- High seas: Logistics, waves, storms...and mammal friends?
- Physical: Recover from injuries to be 12h+ on a board ...
...without being a professional athlete!
